What is car carrier transport?

Whether or not you’re moving North, South, East or West getting all of your vehicles safely to your destination is an issue that individuals everywhere must deal with. If unable to drive the vehicle there personally, one must determine the most effective way (based on time and finances) to get the vehicle from point A to point B. One industry which has been growing over the last decade is auto transport. Using trucks specially designed to be car carriers; auto shipping companies will pick up your vehicle and deliver it to its desired location. Depending on the location of the vehicle, some car carriers will actually pick the vehicle up at your front door. There are a few different types of car carriers which may be used during the shipping process.

Basic car carriers can carry a decent number of vehicles depending on size, weight and destination. These carriers are designed to fit as many cars as possible. Some of them can have up to three levels of parking, providing ample room to haul automobiles. These carriers are easier to reserve and generally more readily available. Also, the cost of transport is usually less when compared to that of an enclosed auto carrier. The reason for this is due to the fact that the automobile is still exposed to the elements which may impact its condition throughout the trip.

Another type of car carrier can be found in the form of the enclosed car carrier. Generally, an enclosed car carrier is reserved for those individuals who want to pay a little extra to ensure their car remains in pristine condition. Enclosed car carriers should have walls, a ceiling, and a floor. It sounds silly saying it, but some companies advertise enclosed carry, but use a canvas or partial walls to enclose the autos, not fully protecting them from road damage, weathering, or even possible theft!  These carriers are also slightly more expensive, and also requires a bit more planning due to the fact that they are not as readily available. So whether you’re transporting your Ferrari or just an old car that has personal value, if you want to transport it with the utmost level of care, enclosed carry is the way to go.
