Miami, Florida is located in southeastern Florida and is part of Miami-Dade County, which is the most populous county in Florida. And in 2007 the United Nations estimated Miami to be the fourth largest urbanized area in the US. It was incorporated July 28, 1896 and as of 2007 its population was estimated to be at 409,719. The city's current mayor is Manuel Alberto Diaz who was reelected for a second term in 2005.
Miami is considered to be a global city due to its importance to worldwide finance, commerce, international trade, arts and entertainment. Miami is also home to the largest concentration of international banks found in the United States. And the Port of Miami is known for accommodating the largest volume of cruise ships in the world. In 2008 Miami was ranked as the 3rd richest city in the United States.
Miami is served by several highways such as I-75, I-95, U.S. Route 1, and U.S. Route 27. The city has numerous DMV locations, two of which are located on 18655 S. Dixie Highway and 1375 NW 36th Street.
