Car Transporting
"An Article To Remember if you're transporting your car"
A freight broker is a company that serves as a liaison between an individual that needs shipping services and an authorized (truck) motor carrier. Though a freight broker plays an important role in the movement of cargo, the broker doesn't function as a motor carrier. Instead, a freight broker works to determine the needs of the customer, and connects them with a truck, willing to transport the items at an acceptable price.
Now lets keep in mind, when shopping around for the best package you may have to keep some things in mind.
To start.....
To determine how much to pay, your broker would need to look up how many cars are requesting to be picked up on that route. Lets say for example there were (10) cars on that route to be picked up on your route. Ranging in price from $850 to $600. The first car to be picked up on this route when a truck is passing this area would be the highest paying customer. Similarly, the next time a truck is passing that area the 2nd highest paying vehicle would be picked up. Due to the inflating prices of fuel they typically will pickup cars in order of price. Now I am not saying the best price to pay is the highest price, however, you never want to be the least paying customer on that route. Brokers are consistently adding additional vehicles to this route at a higher price than yours. Consequently, if you're the least paying vehicle, it will always be at the bottom of the list. Therefore, your vehicle never gets picked up. Customers that shop around gathering 5 to 10 quotes will typically pick the least expensive price along the way assuming they found a bargain. Meanwhile, not realizing they have picked a broker and a price that will not move their vehicle.
Freight broker services are valuable to both shippers (the customer) and motor carriers. Freight brokers help customers find reliable carriers at a price that will move their vehicle. Consumers at times may think that they can pick up the phone and call a trucking company that has a truck running their route. Not so much, 89% of carriers (trucks) are independent owner/operators. As a result, they do not have the ability to send faxes, dispatch orders, or communicate with customers. Given the circumstances, you have people like us,
we find you reliable carriers at a price that will move your vehicle.
Freight brokers use their knowledge of the shipping industry and technological resources to help shippers and carriers accomplish their goals. Many companies find the services provided by freight brokers indispensable. In fact, some companies hire brokers to coordinate all of their shipping needs.
