Home of the world renowned United States Naval Academy at Annapolis ins "the Sailing Capital of the World," the first railroad station, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Jr., and
the national anthem, Maryland is as patriotic and sports-loving a state as they come. Being right near Washington D.C., the center of power in the US, Maryland has strong ties with the US Federal Government. Baltimore, Maryland's most populous city and capital, is home to some of the most impassioned fans of baseball. Being the hometown of the "Sultan of Swat" would explain this by itself, but the baseball talent to pass through the town since its inception is quite remarkable. Maryland also has the second largest port in all of the US where many materials are shipped in to build motor cars and grow crops in the Midwest. Seeing that these are, or at least have been in the past, two of the top products to come out of the US, Maryland's ports are indispensable to the welfare of America. Finally, if you find yourself going to the movies in Maryland, remember it is unlawful to take a lion with you!
