Jeep Car Transport from Reliable Car Transportation.com
Jeep is an automobile marquee of Chrysler and is currently the oldest off-road vehicle and sport utility vehicle brand, with the British-based Land Rover coming in second. Jeep is perhaps most famous for providing the US Army and its allies vehicles during World War II, and have also been issued to the US Postal Service for mail delivery and other mail services. It is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The name “Jeep” and its origins are unclear, though one story seems more likely than the rest. Before World War II many Jeep vehicles bore the designation “GP”, either for “government purpose” or “general purpose.” The letters GP, said phonetically, says “Jeep.” The original Jeep was built by Willys and Ford before Jeep became a subsidiary of Chrysler. The Jeep brand itself has bounced around through the years; it began being owned by Willys, then was sold to Kaiser Motors in 1953, and again to American Motors (AMC) in 1970; AMC actually bought Kaiser Motors and kept the Jeep name alive. It was eventually sold to Chrysler.
Because of its association with Chrysler, many of the Chrysler production facilities share their resources between its many different production facilities, including the Mack Avenue production plant as well as the Newark, Delaware production plant. Jeep is currently looking into the production of new, alternative-energy vehicles along with many other Chrysler divisions as well.
